Since 1970 the League's purpose has been to promote informed and active participation of citizens in government. While the League studies and then takes action on a wide variety of governmental issues, it is firmly nonpartisan; it supports neither candidates or political parties.

Membership is open to all men and women and visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend our events and discussions. Come, observe and participate. For Immediate Release

The League of Women Voters of the Wisconsin Rapids Area (LWVWRA) and Wisconsin Rapids Community Media (WRCM) will be hosting a Candidate Forum on Tuesday- February 6th a 6:00 pm for the candidates that will appear on the primary ballot on February 20, 2024 for the office of mayor for the City of Wisconsin Rapids.

The Feb. 6th forum will be held in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 444West Grand Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids. Citizens are welcomed to attend in person for this presentation. Those attending live will have an opportunity to submit questions in writing prior to and during the event.

It will also be broadcast live and can be viewed beginning at 6:00 pm on Solarus.

Channel 3 and Spectrum Channel 985. For those watching from a computer go to the webpage for Wisconsin Rapids Community Media and click on the Live TV tab. It can also be viewed live by going to the WRCM Facebook page.

If you miss the live event, it will be rebroadcast on WRCM several times prior to the primary election on February 20, 2024.

September 10, 2023: Our league, the League of Women Voters of the Wisconsin Rapids Area (LWVWRA) participated at the annual Wisconsin Rapids Grand Affair. This downtown event is sponsored by Wisconsin Rapids Heart of Wisconsin- Chamber of Commerce. Our league set up a booth offering various voter information handouts. Some of the handouts were both in Spanish and English. Additionally, we prominently displayed charts that indicated the various polling places and name and contact information of the clerks within the South Wood County area.
