The Wisconsin Rapids Area League of Women Voters will be at McMillan Memorial Library from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the following dates to assist area residents as they register to vote: Tuesday, Oct. 2; Wednesday, Oct. 10; Tuesday, Oct. 16; (deadline for registering on line) Monday, Oct. 29 League members are volunteering in partnership with the library on this project. The league have a booth at the Grand Affair on Sept. 9, and will host a voter forum on Oct. 23. The mid-term election is Nov. 6.

The Wisconsin Rapids Area League of Women Voters will host a voter forum beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the Wisconsin Rapids Community Media studio, 220 3rd Ave. S. The forum can be viewed live on the WRCM website at www.wr.cm.org , Solarus high definition channel 3, Charter Cable standard definition channel 985 and on Roku devices by adding the WRCM's channel through the web at: http://roku.streamsource.tv/add/wrcm

Invited candidates include: Wisconsin Assembly Districts: 70 - Nancy VanderMeer (R) and Cari Fey (D); 72 - Scott Krug (R) and David Gorski (D) Wood County Sheriff: Shawn Becker (R) and John Hiller (D) Wood County Coroner: Scott Brehm (R) and Dara Borre Hamm (D) Seats for other local offices are unopposed. The forum will begin at 6 p.m. Gloria and Mary will be visiting seniors at Lincoln High School and River Cities High School. Leo and Sue Thomasgard will be making school visits at John Edwards High School, Port Edwards, and Nekoosa High School. We are tapping Clara's sources and hope to visit Pittsville High School.

We will host a new member meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9, with a potluck at Alexander House in Port Edwards. Anyone interested in joining or supporting the local league may call Mary Dahm at 715-421-9646.
